Produced Water

Saline water trapped in the reservoir rock that is brought to the surface along with oil or gas during production, it often contains chemicals that have been added down-hole during production and it exists under high pressures and temperatures, usually containing oil and metals.

The treatment of produced water is a major component of the cost of producing oil and gas and the ability to efficiently and economically dispose of or re-use it is critical to success in the oil production business. Produced Water will typically include the following contaminants:

  • Dissolved inorganic salts,
  • Dispersed oil droplets,
  • Dissolved organic compounds (dissolved “oil”),
  • Treatment and work over chemicals,
  • Dissolved gases (particularly hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide),
  • Bacteria and other living organisms, and
  • Dispersed solid particle

Acid Mine Drainage (AMD)

Acid mine drainage and mine impacted water offer the greatest threat to the environment and mining operations. If treated correctly, it can become a valuable resource, but the challenge is to maximize water recovery, whilst minimizing capital and operating costs. Using our range of products we are able to recover up to 95% of high quality product water from typically contaminated mine water.
